There is nothing more irritating than having to deal with pesky mosquitoes. They may be small and tiny, but they can ruin an entire home atmosphere or fun outing. However, some of these chemicals may be harmful to animals, humans, and the environment. As such, there are a number of home mosquito control remedies that people can use that are environmentally friendly.

Dry Ice

Dry Ice emits a lot of carbon dioxide and attracts mosquitoes. Place your dry ice in a container and place it at a safe distance from humans and pets. Open the container and close the lid when it traps enough mosquitoes. It may be a little time consuming, but the method works.

Coffee Grounds

Coffee grounds are a simple and inexpensive way to chase off mosquitoes. Sprinkle a few coffee grounds near stagnant water. Mosquitoes love to deposit eggs in stagnant water. Coffee grounds force the eggs to the water’s surface where they cannot get oxygen. Of course, it is helpful to clean up any pools of stagnant water. Clean up the stagnant water and prevent mosquitoes from laying eggs.

Camphor is also a popular home remedy that can help rid a home or yard of mosquitoes. Close the windows and doors of a room, and light the camphor. Keep an eye on it and leave it lit for an hour. Return to the room and there will not be any mosquitoes. Camphor balls can work just as well.

Garlic, if you can stand the smell, is a strong mosquito deterrent. Crush several cloves of garlic and boil them in hot water for some time. Pour the ingredients in a spray bottle and squirt it around the room. This is a perfect remedy, but the garlic smell will linger for a while. A healthy diet of garlic will also repel mosquitoes and prevent those irritating bites. Some people choose to rub the garlic directly on their skin.

For outside BBQs, spread a little dish detergent around. Mosquitoes are attracted to the lemon freshness. They will leave your BBQ and guests alone. Red cedar mulch deters mosquitoes and also applies an attractive element to a yard or garden. You can also make a brew by boiling the mulch in water. Then place the liquid in a garden sprayer and spray areas where mosquitoes gather.

Sometimes, it is difficult to rid the yard of mosquitoes. This is when professional mosquito control can offer a solution. Professional pest control applicators have the tools, chemicals, knowledge, and experience to rid homes and yards of those pesky mosquitoes.
